An opportunity to participate in a humanitarian mission* to Cuba!
While travel to Cuba by citizens and residents of the United States is restricted, it is allowed for humanitarian purposes. The Cuban people have little or no access to many of the products that crowd the shelves of our markets and pharmacies, products that most Americans would be happy to share, if given the opportunity. In fact, the opportunity exits. November 14-22, 2009, a group of Americans will travel to Cuba carrying donation goods to be distributed around the country.
The group will personally deliver donations to a Jewish community center and a Catholic church and have the opportunity to meet some of the community members who will benefit from the contributions. This kind of direct exchange is especially meaningful because you know that your gifts will reach those in need and you realize the impact they will have.
You will have the opportunity to make further contributions at the world renowned community center and social services facility Convento de Belen. This unique, ambitious project serves Havana’s poorest neighborhoods with special focus on the elderly and disabled children. The vitality, hope and cooperative spirit of Convento de Belen is truly inspirational and visitors come away deeply touched and eager to support this work.
In return for your generosity, Cuba offers the exuberance and warmth of her people, the energy of her culture, the beauty of her landscape, and the architectural treasures of Old Havana and Trinidad.
